Sewing Machines Project
When Island Girl Power approached the Bureau of Women’s Affairs about the need for sewing machines for a group of Micronesian women who wanted to start a sewing business, BWA approached a non-profit group out of Wisconsin, The Sewing Machine Project. The SMP, with help from Triple B Forwarders and Matson, sent eight new sewing machines to Guam in order to help these women get started. They also sew reusable menstrual pads for IGP girls, and for sale at the IGP Thrift Store.
